NS2 is already my most productive app ever. I expect it will be even more productive when audio tracks arrive.👍
-
Good to know. If I use Replicant 2 in NS2 (ipad 2017) the song file takes ~5min to load.
-
Anyone know of an alternative to Replicant 2 that works properly in NS2?
-
+1. I’d gladly pay $20 if it would speed up the development of my favorite app. If iOS reviewers like Jakob Haq and SoundTestRoom have patreons, why not iOS Developers?
-
Well said, and fair enough. And just for public interest: https://www.blipinteractive.co.uk/community/index.php?p=/discussion/72/request-link-start-stop

+1 👍😂 NS2 was the proverbial “game-changer” for my musicmaking; it’s indeed sad to see it progress so slowly. But I guess all we can do is be patient. 🤷♂️
-
That is strange. I’m curious, does it behave the same way if you use an AUv3 synth in NS2 instead of Obsidian?
-
I have the impression that a lot of AUv3 plugins (especially AUfx) are more reliable in other hosts than in NS2. I know Blip’s stance is that it’s usually caused by shabby coding in the plugin, and that may well be true. But it makes me wonder...what magic are other hosts using that makes them less sensitive to shabby…

I don’t know if this helps, but here’s a tutorial showing how to send midi notes to Turnado (and Effectrix)... https://www.blipinteractive.co.uk/community/index.php?p=/discussion/880/how-to-automate-turnado-in-nanostudio-2

The forthcoming audio tracks in NS2 may provide a self-contained workaround, if I can host mononoke in NS2 on an AUv3 track, route its audio output to an audio track, hit record, and perform on Mononoke’s triggers...

Thanks!

Also, since all the keys are identically white no matter which scale you’re using, there’s no quick way to locate your root key. Most similar iOS keyboards will shade either your root key, or the sharps/flats, to give you visual cues of what you’re playing.
-
+1. If a patch is designed as a bass, it usually won’t sound right at C5; it makes sense to me that it would switch the onscreen keyboard to C1 or whatever when it loads. That said, it also makes sense for this behavior to be toggle-able, to meet the needs of various users and scenarios.

Wow...I Know Ihave done it, but I can’t remember the exact process. 😟 I may have used Audiobus 3 to host the Ruismaker Noir and pipe its MIDI stream into NS2, with Ableton Link syncing them...
-
If i remember correctly, it didn’t even show up as a midi AU in NS2 before, so it wasn’t useable at all in NS2. But now it’s working perfectly for me, and it’s even more useful than I expected.
-
Cool, I didn’t even know Auria could do this...are there other apps that have this function??
-
You beat me to it 😀 But then, it’s not 7-12 where I live yet. Anyway, happy birthday, NS2!

Sometimes i actually see the editor screen for a split second before it switches to the “Loading NFM Editor...” message.
-
My experience exactly, just now. iPad 2017, iOS13.2.5 Reloading NFM and restarting NS2 don’t help, but after loading a different plugin in its place and playing it for a while, NFM loads OK again. It only happens occasionally. 44.1khz, buffer high

Me too!
-
I love it too. Great sounds, easy use, pretty interface, amazing price. I make Slate kits from the best sounds it comes up with.
-
iPad 2017, various iOS versions. Sorry I haven’t kept track. 😖
-
I’ve had this same problem with various AUs, can’t remember them all, but most recently Rozeta XOX. Sometimes reloading the song fixes it for me.
-
Sugar Bytes’ EFFECTRIX is also now AUfx, so it works with this trick too. And it’s even easier because it doesn’t need midi learn. It responds to midi notes C3-B3 Right out of the box.🙂
-
It’s true— the macro controllers in NS2 are more than enough for most uses. But I have a musical style that involves tweaking/warping sounds extensively as a song progresses (think 303 acid on steroids). If I could automate ALL the parameters of an instrument, I would. 🙂 Since no iOS app really handles automation the way…

Have you tried out the free version?
-
__> @Will said: OP here. I just tried it and it does indeed work. It’s a decent workaround. Ideally I’d prefer a single-click method to mute a track’s midi, similar to the track mute buttons that already exist, and even better it they could be mapped to hardware controllers, but I’ll take what I can get. If nothing else,…
-
Audiobus and AUM both allow muting of MIDI sources. I don’t know how they handle these issues, but it seems to work ok...
-
All mute mode would need is a third option, “track content only.”
-
Thanks! A good place for such a button might be on this screen...
