Good use of vocal chops @Cray23 - great way to drag the listener in just that bit more. I also agree with @dendy about your style :)

@boingboing have you considered rendering your hit to audio and then using that sample in Obsidian? It depends on the type of automation you want to use, but it can be very flexible. I've even taken a complete rendered track, loaded it as a sample in Obisidian, modulated the pitch of that sample with a LFO (and added a…

I understand it's a stripped down version of Linux, which most of these things are now. I've also heard JUCE mentioned. I just miss the level of control available in Obsidian - none of the synths available now on the Force have the same depth of control that Obsidian allows (although this may be a design decision by Akai),…

Nice @bobheads! I do agree with @boomer that there's a conflict (in a good way) between the sub bass and the main melodic hook - and I for one want the hook to win :) I suggest changing the sound of the hook up a little the last time it is played so that it is stronger and more forceful. Sometimes all this takes is a…

You're not the only one, @stu761 - I sympathize :) Lockdown is like being on hold.... Hope your painting hasn't been put on hold too. Love what you've done, I remember the first track you posted. All I can suggest with this track is that the sub-bass could be louder. You might have to sidechain compress it to keep levels…

You're welcome @richardyot :)

Nice - there is a level of compositional detail here we don't normally see. I remember from a precious post that you use a wind controller, and I can hear the results in the expressiveness of sounds. In particular to me it showed just how effective simply changing the attack of a lead instrument from note to note can add…

Hi @richardyot - I might have misunderstood, but with external midi tracks you set the midi destination for an external midi track here:

Hi @Niktu :) Slate is a sampler, spend some time exploring it to see what you can get out of it. You can also play samples in Obsidian, and that gives you options like LFO modulation etc, and you can map a sample to a single midi note if you want. If you do get stuck, you can ask us how to do something.
-
@duresq good to hear! The more you experiment the more you'll achieve in my opinion. Keep going any you definitely will start creating music worth sharing.
-
Nicely done! Your attention to detail is obvious :)
-
Thanks @Will and @dendy for answering so well....! @duresq I assume you've found how to add a track lane (hold the plus sign bottom left) and then choose "record to this lane" when you want to record into it... you may have to zoom in to see the button. Good thinking putting a reference to the type of music in. I'd never…

Hi @Panoramica (Dan), I've been spending the past few days working on how I could use NS2 live, so your post interests me... Much of what you've asked for I'd find useful as well, although perhaps I've been using NS2 differently. I've been trying to use NS2 more like a section-based groovebox, much like @3sleeves did well…
-
My favourite tip is to use multiple track lanes to create polyrhythmic automation.... I prefer to automate on the instrument, rather than use track automation, even for track-level automation like filter fades :)
-
Hi! Not that I'm aware of. When you are in the browser, however, you can press the little "play" arrow to audition the sample. If you do this while your track is playing (looped) you will get a good idea how it sounds within your groove. Hope this helps!

Hmmm.... I also tried loading Slate kits with far too many very large samples. Specifically: 1. copy a 108MB sample (a mixdown) into the Audio folder of an empty project 2. using Files app, duplicate 31 times (enough for two Slate kits of 16 pads each, and all samples "different") in the same folder 3. create Slate kit #1…

I've been noticing that NS2 file actions (specifically refreshing the project list and creating a new blank project) have been taking longer than they used to. I must admit that I am very lazy when it comes to file management, so I had too many "Untitled something" and "Test something" projects, which had either amounted…

Nice! Good use of happy dog video too :+1: From a video point of view I also like that you ended with walking into the clearing and the sunshine. The problem with improvised jams is that you get all the fun of creating, without that hard work of mixing and fixing ;) And that's why I blame jamming for not getting anything…

@internalogic I suggest using Blocs Wave on the same iDevice to record synched loops. The free version does it, which is nice as well :) To make it happen, 1. use Ableton Link to synch both apps, 2. make sure your tempo is right (and Link hasn't changed it), 3. loop your beat in NS2 so you have something to record over 4.…
-
Well done - this is a fantastic song, complete in every way. Your effort reworking this has been rewarded! This is certainly one to add to your live set :)
-
@gls how about using an AUv3 synth? I may not understand your goal completely, but are you trying to program a pattern in the Digitakt so that you change from one synth to the next and then another etc during a pattern? This could give you a complex beat, for example, from one pattern, or an effect like cut-up audio. I've…
-
I don't think there is a way to use program change. Have you thought about setting up your Obsidian synth presets on different channels? That way you could at least have a few Obsidians running at one time. You'd need to be able to change the channel the digitakt sends to, of course. It looks like the Digitakt can even…

You're welcome @yyoyy Keep working on grouping and mixing and tone. It often takes many attempts to get it right :)
-
Hey, congratulations! Good examples of game music, really engaging. Sleep well :) you've earned it!
-
Wow - strong use of structure. I mention that because structure is a weakness of mine :( Good builds, too, and use of filters and noise. I do think that it does feel a bit like the end section(s) don't quite match the feeling of the first two thirds, that feeling starts where the Rave Lead comes in, so it might just be the…
-
Do get it :) If you have a really cool idea but can't code it, we could collaborate. I've written some Mozaic code, and some of it is good :)
-
This is GOOOOOOOOOOD! Love the sound design, think the modulation is plenty, structure is strong and changes just quickly enough to always keep my attention... And the drums are really strong. I really want to hear this one in my car REAL LOUD but sadly can't since we're in lockdown and the battery is disconnected..... :(…
-
Hi @hobojona :) You could mix down the track on the iPad and email the audio files, then use Audacity or any DAW to edit (or just load them into your video editor as they are). Mixdown is under Manage and Project: There is no version of NS2 for PC or Mac. And NS1 won't open NS2 files (and vice versa) since so much has…

I really recommend Bram Bos' Mozaic for random humanization of midi notes, and once you've got it you'll find all sorts of other things it is really good for. http://ruismaker.com/mozaic/ There is a patchstorage.com page for Mozaic (https://patchstorage.com/platform/mozaic/) and loading patches is really easy: 1. download…
