  • Thanks man! My stuff is all analogue so I don't think I'll need to worry about sysex, but it's good to know that could be an issue if I get anything which utilises it in the future :)
  • Well the cheap USB MIDI adapter I bought arrived today, and it works perfectly! I used it with a free iOS app called Arpist which, among other things, generates a MIDI clock. I ran it through a MIDI splitter and fed it to my Microbrute and Volca Sample, and it worked perfectly. Hopefully Nanostudio will add MIDI clock…
  • Oh, would a generic one do the trick? I had been assuming the cheaper ones wouldn't support Core MIDI so wouldn't work with an iPad. I have found several cheap ones on Amazon. I've got Prime so maybe I should just give one of them a try.
  • Ah yes, that worked. Thanks! @Shabudua Link to my YT channel is in my profile now! My latest, Hungry Animals, went up last night :)
  • I like the pro-forma with tasteful little links idea. That is very cool. And I do agree with what others have said about long signatures cluttering up a forum. In most cases I agree that it's not really necessary, and makes scrolling through the posts more tedious. But if the signatures were really restricted to short…
  • Thanks @Will! It’s working fine now :)
  • I think it's Vanilla.
  • Sorry for massive screenshots :flushed:
  • Tell that to intersectionalists :p
  • Interesting. In Reason you have to programme the individual pads to specify which output they should go to and wire something in to that output on the device. I didn’t think of them already being routed that way but only utilised if you expand the channels in the mixer and insert and effect.
  • I reckon the Remote 25 might just work. It would overhang but if I can fix it firmly enough it would probably be fine.
  • Well if we’re including glue as an option then I may as well use my Novation Remote 25  Hmm, could that actually work? The Remote has a socket for external power though I’ve never used it as it’s also USB powered. But if I got a power supply for it and a lightning to USB adapter, would the keyboard actually work in…
  • Oh my... it's a bit like Blocks in Reason. That makes things much easier!
  • @Fruitbat1919 That is an other good point on this subject. I do the same with Kong in Reason - map the pads to individual outputs so I can put different FX chains on them. It is so much easier for mixing.
  • Agreed. Combinator-like functionality would far outweigh the £28 price tag on this DAW and I would very happily pay for an IAP for a macro automation device.
  • No worries, it's still an option in the interim while I look for something that will actually contain the iPad (or at least have it attached).
  • Ah, I didn't realise I had to select one of the count options. I thought I just long pressed on "Duplicate", enabled "linked" and then tapped "duplicate" to create a linked copy. This makes sense now and I've been able to get it working. Thanks! :)
  • Ahh wait, does that stand sit behind the keyboard or attach to it? I really want to be able to sit on a comfy chair with the keyboard on my lap and the iPad right there so I can just play and jam in my down time. Having the iPad physically separate from the keyboard would make this cumbersome.
  • @Stiksi Ohhhh I didn’t know you could get the clip separately from the keyboard. The IK Keys I/O is really nice, but massively overkill for NS as the keyboard itself also provides an audio interface. So getting just the clip and then a more basic controller would be a great compromise! I think there is a gap in the market…
  • Yeah this would be very helpful indeed.
  • Sorry to dig this up again but I want to make sure I’m not missing something. Is it currently possible to sync NS2 with a desktop DAW in any way at all?
  • Damn, the IK keyboard looks really nice but it’s really expensive! Part of me is considering selling my Microbrute and buying that instead, as Obsidian seems perfectly capable as an analogue soft synth. But Microbrute is real analogue  In my mind I’m visualising something like the Komplete Kontrol, but with a slot for…
  • Just a thought about implementation of this. Currently, automation lanes for insert effects are associated with the sequencer track for the instrument into which the effect is inserted. Routing this to parameters of effects on other instruments would be confusing this way, as data from one sequencer track would be…
  • Ah, yes I’d seen the macro automation options and this is very similar to Combinator or Mix Channel programming in Reason where you can route one button or rotary to multiple parameters of multiple devices. It gets really crazy and you can get some amazing effects by cranking one knob and having it affect a whole load of…
  • I agree that a cleaner solution would be preferable. Having individual sends for each pad would be idea in my opinion.
  • Yes!!! It works! Thank you! Once again this software just got even better :sunglasses: Now, can I use one automation lane to control more than one parameter? Again I’m kind of porting from Reason where you can assign a knob to multiple parameters and then automate it. I know you can do this in the modulation matrix, but…
  • Hmm, it doesn’t seem to work. The automation data is drawn in, but the knob doesn’t move and the effect doesn’t fade in. If I move the knob manually, I can hear the effect.
  • Ahh, I found it. You do it in the sequencer by tapping the automation edit button and then choosing the track which has the effect in its chain. It then shows you automation lanes for the various parameters of the effect. That’s really nice that it’s all within the sequencer like that.
  • That... is amazing. Your instructions made perfect sense and I was able to set this up in seconds. MIDI sends are a great feature to have! It reminds me of routing note/gate CV using cabling in Reason. I can’t quite believe how good this software is. I keep expecting to find a killer flaw, as no mobile music software I’ve…
  • Thanks @Will! I’m not keen on using a muted drum track to drive the sidechain as changes in the beat might not be reflected in the muted track. I move kick drums around a lot when varying the beat and I don’t want the sidechain getting out of sync. Using the filter on the sidechain should do the trick though! Using a LPF…
