You don’t need AudioBus to route the midi with AUM. You need to follow the instructions as per dendys midi flow example above but instead of midi flow you connect the AUM destination directly to NS2 in AUMs midi routing settings in an otherwise empty project. As you are only using AUM to route MIdi And aren’t hosting…

But in use the behaviour of the instrument setting sheets can be annoying. The mute/solo and volume modes take up the whole screen and look like they should behave like a mixer tab. But they don’t. If you use the volume or mute solo sheets as compact mixers you are constantly taken out of that view and into the instrument…

No worries :-) it’s down to my bad editing or iPhone autocorrect! My OP makes no sense and isn’t what I thought I’d written ! (Autocorrect has become really dumb on my phone. Every time I write ‘and’ my iPhone changes it to ‘Andy’. I don’t even know an Andy. Weird! I think I must attract gremlins like a magnet!). By the…

I’ve had this happen with K7D as an audio fx. When you reload a project with K7D instances they silence any channel they’re on. The UI is loaded and responsive even though there’s no audio. If you hit bypass on and off a couple of times on each instance this seems to bring K7D back to life.

Hi @dendy , yes I know you can set the loop points from the selection and use blank regions to mark your song out — I use the double tap properties for this all the time. . I used to do something very similar with very early versions of Logic before it got its own marker track. It seemed logical to me that the inverse…

Additionally, a way to save a complete channel strip a la Logic would be awesome. You can save the audio fx and midi fx chains, but a global preset for the entire channel strip would be a huge time saver if it also saved the AU instrument along with its patch and mod. matrix. I often have a few separate projects of the…

No I don’t have D1

Things are getting weirder. As @drez reported that Gribd worked if he changed the preset I thought I’d try the same. I’ve had a hell of a time with it. I managed to get the project loaded and deleted the instance of Grind. I then duplicated the project via the files app and opened this Grind-less project. It took…

I know, which is why I continued to communicate with you in private (as well as on forums). As I mentioned above, I would certainly not have done had I thought you were like that. Hopefully I've demonstrated that I'm happy to help? Three is twice as hard as two. And two is three times harder than one. I've done the maths.

In my example described above, there were no autosaves between the time I saved the copy to when it crashed, which was about 15 mins. It would be a great troubleshooting feature if saving wasn't one of the primary actions that causes a crash.
-
@dendy said: Oh come on @dendy! You know that's not true! ;-) You've been involved in threads where people have gone OTT defensive and even accused me of being a non-NS2-owning-troll... Good imagination from that guy, I bet he's a blast at parties 🎉 And I've done quite a bit to help. You know this too. Just because I don't…

I have had the crashes corroborated by a developer who has reproduced the issue I described. Turns out it wasn’t user error. :-/ I don’t believe Grind is involved in this particular issue. The project that made the iPad reboot itself had an instance of Grind. There wasn’t a “Grind” crash log for the time that it crashed. I…

Talking of crashing, I was testing the project and all seemed to be working. I actually added some parts and went to save and NS crashed hard, causing the iPad itself to totally crash and reboot itself. I do not like it when an app crashes during saving, losing everything since the last save. After the iPad restarted i…

If I open and close way too many projects, when I open the one with the Noir boom, it will crash NS2. But I’m not suggesting that Noir is causing the crash, just that the project that crashed also makes Noir make a sound as it loads.
-
One additional warning sign I’ve noticed is when I’m opening a project that has (or will soon get) locking up issues, more often than not I have a Ruismaker Noir track or two. When I open the project, a Noir hit gets triggered (double tap the project to load it and ‘Boom’ goes Noir!). Sometimes after that I lose all audio…

@drez Your issues mirror my problems with NS2 locking up during opening/saving/exporting/mixdown etc. I did manage to salvage one problem track; First of all I made a copy of the problem project in the files app. Then, after restarting the iPad I managed to get it to open after a few tries (it would often lock up during…

I couldn't disagree more! ;-) From my personal perspective, I've been spending way too much money on audio apps for the iPad since the iPad 2 was released (I bought one pretty much on launch day, queued for hours!). I played around with IAA apps a lot. But I dislike the IAA workflow and it ended up being too much hassle…

@anickt The reason I like Audio Damage plug ins is that they are not duplicates of stock built in effects. They are fun to use in sound design and are designed to do things that are impossible or tricky with the built in stuff. If im getting a sound I like but hitting snags with reliability, I am more likely to switch DAW…

I’ve had multiple problems with NS2 locking up. Sometimes Ns2 will ‘free’ itself if you leave It long enough, but it usually requires a reboot of the iPad. Stepbud doesn’t work for me at all in Ns2. It fires of a million note ons which results in the sound being like a demented wasp. If I put a midi data viewer after…

Ah ok cool, thanks. I had actually tried making an empty KIt named it INIT instead but then ended up with a kit called INiT that wasn’t initialised Default empty kit now works. Ta.
-
I posted this from my phone so couldn’t check the App Store description. I am sure it did mention audio tracks before so the description must have been changed since I purchased NS2. So that’s cool. It makes sense that you can’t mention future features.
-
@richardyot It really is. However I have one suggestion that would make it even easier. Every time I want a new slate kit it always seems to take me forever to find the right three dots to initialise the patch. If there was an INIT patch command directly in the browser after you double click after adding a new slate track…
-
I totally understand the advice that you can use slate for audio. However, for almost every use I have for an audio track, Slate will not suffice. I want to be able to record in audio, say a guitar track, and edit it in place. I want to be able to keep playing takes over a loop To come up with ideas. I want to be able to…
-
Nah, it's not the same. Launching clips to play after the current one is a very different way of arranging/jamming. You can do the slate/loop thing if you've already worked out all the details but the beauty of a session view is it's a great way to jam song ideas, both in small sections and also to help arrange a full…

An apology. From the screenshots, the font used in the main arrange window to title the tracks (The condensed font) looks a bit like Calibri condensed. (a lot like it actually). Too many badly formatted Word documents come my way and I'm a little too sensitive to MS formatting these days, it makes my eye twitch. (It could…

I may be a font nerd but Encode sans clearly isn’t calibri so I think I’ve been kicked out of the font pedants club. :-/ Thanks for taking the late night comments in such good spirit. I will try and see Encode in a new, less “PowerPoint presentation” light. :-)
