Just in case anyone lands here: this has been solved by the latest Drambo release.
-
Lol I was about to add a feature request to show AUv3 icons in the plugin lists, I guess you better stay away from that :P
-
@dendy That doesn't allow me to process MIDI with it or use its MIDI output, though. Edit: In any case, from that same thread above, it looks like Giku will be updating Drambo to be AUMI as well, which will take care of this issue.
-
Hi @dendy, can you confirm that this is indeed a problem with NS? Just checking if I should bother Giku or wait for a fix ;)
-
Oh yeah, it's just when I posted this I thought I would get puzzled reactions or, at best, eye-rolling 😅
-
Cool, thanks for the reply! It’s nice to know that it isn’t as far-fetched as I thought.
-
I think @dendy was interested in pushing for a Live-like workflow once audio tracks are delivered, so at least we can hold on to that hope :)
-
Just in case someone else comes around looking for the same thing: I found that having the track with the effect (with External MIDI type) as the parent of the source audio track worked better for my workflow than using a send. When we can save and recall full tracks it'll be awesome :)
-
Thank you! This worked perfectly!
-
Thanks! It’s good to know that I can keep poking around. I prefer these apps in the effect slots for live sampling (and eventually audio in 😉). Spacecraft seems to be an odd case: in AUM it only shows up as effect, acts as one, but also definitely receives MIDI notes. The others do show up as fx and mfx separately.
-
Did you enable the input from that device here? https://blipinteractive.co.uk/nanostudio2/user-manual/Settings.html#midi-settings Is it showing up for you in the track input settings? https://blipinteractive.co.uk/nanostudio2/user-manual/Mixer.html#input-settings

Not yet, there are a number of things missing: 1. Ability to record AUs (instrument or effect) MIDI out 2. Sequencer being able to record/playback MPE (or even aftertouch) 3. Being able to pass through MPE from external controller (software or hardware) to an AU instrument I just realized that my three points correspond to…
-
I’d like to add here that just being able to play (i.e. not necessarily record) MPE-enabled synths would be great. For some reason it looks like some MIDI messages don’t get all the way through.
-
Now that I’m using the iPhone version more (I usually have the iPad connected to a MIDI keyboard), this has been getting more important to me (along with some way of displaying the keyboard in the effects view)
-
Oh got it, I couldn’t find any discussion about it around here, so I just wanted to make sure it is being considered, even if for a much later date
-
🤯 the little downward arrows mean that there’s a long-press action available, right?
-
got it, thanks for explaining!
-
Just so to make sure we're talking about the same thing, I'm referring to this: Asking because I don't see how the notch has an effect on this being present or not.
-
They have a 1-to-1 relationship: whenever you create a send from track A to track B, a corresponding return is created in track B to represent the incoming connection from track A: https://blipinteractive.co.uk/nanostudio2/user-manual/Mixer.html#track-sendreturns

Thank you, Matt!

Recording, live playing and live sampling (say, into Spacecraft) from external inputs. This is one of the reasons I’d also like to see effects treated more like “first-class citizens”, as instruments are.
-
Yeah, I agree. I really hope that we eventually get shortcuts for moving across a single track’s instrument and effects though.
-
I think @TPJ is referring to qwerty keyboard, which would be great to have. The shortcuts I'd love the most: * Spacebar to toggle play/stop * Tab? to toggle mixer/song editor * Left/Right to switch instruments (like clicking the left and right arrows in the instruments status bar) * Up/Down to switch like this: instrument…

In the Load project list, you can select it, tap the "…" menu and then tap "Send to Trash"
-
I discovered those settings the other day and I'd actually love for the disabled ones to just not appear in track in/out settings (and being able to rename them would be excellent too)
-
I seems that this specific bug (which is the only one I've ran into) is supposes to be fixed in the upcoming release, which is already waiting for Apple's review. Not sure about iPadOS 13, though.
-
Aah I think that’s it, I saw it being mentioned in the Audiobus forums
-
It does work for me, with a few kinks related to passing CC/pitchbend automation from an external controller which will be fixed in the next update (already submitted to Apple). Have you checked the MIDI channel in D1's settings? It looks like NS2 internal keyboard always sends to channel 1
-
Ah, because it's a multi-channel sequencer, so I'd like to sequence multiple NS tracks.
-
The problem is that my master keyboard has a fixed MIDI channel (in a practical sense, at least). That's why the "selected" option is so fantastic for just using it along with NS.
