Kind of off-topic but the combination of vocal tone and mic sound in the vlog video is so good it practically had me nodding. Could read a Betty Crocker recipe to a beat and it would sound good. Nice distortion on those kicks!

@MattFletcher2000 thanks! I think I've got a few simpler "quick tips" I'd like to get out of the way here (simple workflow things that people might not notice in NS2). But pretty soon I'm going to shift more into design, production and more general approaches. Eventually it will probably be me talking about how I produce…

It sounds too gleeful to be a KKK reference. So I got it :) Welcome!

I downloaded Cubasis 2 again for the first time in, maybe 4 years? I would like to make use of it somehow. I have to say though, home team prejudice aside, I just can't spend a lot of time in it. I really think it just comes down to workflow. I feel the weight of desktop daw code floating around somehow. I don't know. Been…

Haha. Ok, I'll let it be for now in the current videos but for future videos I'll tone it down. Unless I manage to produce some cheesy elevator music. Then I'm going to be sure to PUMP THAT SHIT ALL THE WAY UP.

@dendy @"Blip Interactive" I think you can change audio to the video. At least that's what YT seems to be saying but I've yet to try it. I'm just wondering if it's a good allocation of my time though to swap the audio. To edit, bounce, post process, upload all takes time. Especially with the dodgy editing software I'm…

Tripping and blissing out here. And I'm not even high! Promise! https://soundcloud.com/nkdvkng/free-beat-alien https://soundcloud.com/richardyot/permafrost https://soundcloud.com/policarpo-wood/transfer-model Literally listening on repeat and lifting my mood like nothing else. Gotta start digging back to earlier pages and…

@dendy are most of these tracks on SoundCloud? We should find a way to showcase these on the main page. Truly phenomenal work and across so many genres. The only thing I hate when hearing this stuff is it highlights how sad and shitty radio and the music industry as a whole has become to me. Some of the best artists out…

Damn, some pretty amazing tracks in this thread. Such quality coming out after only a short time of use. Really inspiring. Keep it coming!

Endlessly surprised by all the thank you's. Hard to keep up but I see it all! Got three more, so may as well post them here for those who haven't seen/subscribed: Physical Modeling Tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ztn3ewdHHpk&t=3s Sidechain Compression/Expansion Tutorial:…

@OhWell I think @colonel_mustard pretty much nailed it. However, I tend to only use it for assigning to macro knobs in one place/saving the mod slot. Pretty sure Matt intended it to be more of a mangler effect though if you wire things up in crazy ways. I should probably experiment with it a bit more as I have basically…

@kinkujin thanks for the feedback. I wasn't sure if the BG was too loud. I use a pretty bad editor which tends to change the volume in multiple-dB increments. This confirms that I should err towards toning it down further. Thanks again!
-
@Youtopia I believe @3sleeves posted this nifty tutorial on this. Not sure if it was already posted but found it very useful so posting it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KKtMwKpfVVU

Industrial vol2 would be closest to that but more in line with vol1. So, consider if you want more of that before thinking about picking it up. I know what you're going for. More trippy/mellow stuff. I'll jot it down for possible future IAP.
-
@nkdvkng @dendy @Zupi @david_2019 wow, thanks guys. That's quite a confidence boost for me (not the easiest thing to achieve). I would like to make a lot more videos. Right now, I'm happy to support NS2 and help people tap into its potential a bit. Obviously the best support for us in return would be to purchase the IAP…

Totally. For me my favorite desktop synths are Arturia Minimoog and Massive. But they also are polar opposites on the front end and how I approach them. Minimoog is simple, straightforward, and just always seems to sound good almost no matter what. Massive is complex but generally capable of a lot more than Minimoog was…
-
@TwistedGenetics I thought I knew what you were asking but now I'm not sure. Do you mean setting sustain loop points in the sampler or do you mean setting a song loop marker while you're preforming in either the Obsidian synth or Slate drum sampler?
-
@Fruitbat1919 @tja I think it will take a while before people fully begin understanding Obsidian. Day one (or day five) opinions are certainly important and maybe speak to what you hear 'out of the box' more than anything. As well as perhaps the learning curve itself (which was a part highlighted in the original comment).…

That good ol' Pacific Northwest weather. One of the best music making tools for sure.

Ohhhhhh. Even just tapping the handles gets you to the selection points. Nice tip @dendy!

I'll just add that the latency on these devices is incredibly low. The "high" latency setting in NS2 is ~10ms. By comparison "high" on my desktop ASIO driver is probably about 40ms. The fact that an iPad can pull off latency at that low of a level is incredible (although, with crackling, maybe "pull off" isn't exactly the…

@colonel_mustard @Arpseechord @david_2019 thanks guys. Had a bit of technical set back but it's been fixed. Just posted a new tutorial on how to use the Obsidian sampler. It also covers the spectral mode and the workaround for recording "audio tracks", etc https://youtu.be/3y9sdiU_p0E

Nanostudio 2 Overview - Understanding Slate https://youtu.be/89U3i5GuuQs

Hehe :) Love the compression on that kick. It's got BEEF.
-
@dokoissho The app is a complete rewrite from NS1 so the project structure and synthesizer is quite different. You won't be able to load your projects from NS1. You can load TRG kits with some basic mapping, but I believe that's the only backwards compatibility right now.
-
Great suggestion. Will do!
-
Nice take and love the enthusiasm and suggestions. I'm sure Matt will take note as he's taking the longview with continually improving the app. As for point #4. You can simply overwrite "default" project with whatever settings you prefer as your own default.

In addition to the above answer just want to point out that physical modeling was kept to a minimum. There are only a handful of patches which feature it as a cornerstone (see ACModelHybrid in the FREE pack for an example which uses small samples just for the pick sound and modeling for the tone). Again, there's some…

The sax patches in Acoutic 1 and Acoustic 2 IAP's are probably more in the alto/baritone. There is also a good "funk" style sax patch in Hip Hop & Trap 2. The way the patches were constructed were more towards giving the user maximum control over sound characteristics rather than a 'one-trick pony' type of instrument. This…
