FabFilter Pro-C 2 and Side chain in Nanostudio 2
Hi. Can't find out how to use another track as side chain input in Fabfilter Pro C2 (on Nanostudio 2). I set Sidechain for EXT in C2 but don't know how to route another track to it. Manual covers sidechaining only for desktop DAWs so no real help here. Any hint welcome. Best!

unfortunately, that's not possible currently, actually no one iOS DAW support this at the moment.. in NS you can sidechain just build-in compressor..
Yes, they introduced that feature in Fabfilter plugins a couple weeks ago and so far no app supports it. It needs support from the host, so it’s probably not going to happen in the near near future but Matt, Nanostudio’s developer, is fully aware of this so it’s possible this might be added in the future.
Thank you. Waiting for it than...
So basically all the fabfilter plugins are better inside Auria at the moment? No sidechaining or record automation in the auv3 versions yet? Any other shortcomings so far between the two versions? I am really hoping that soon I can leave Auria behind and do everything inside of NS2.
Yeah, for now Auria is only one DAW where you can use sidechaining in FabFilter plugins - and also there you can use it just with build-in Fabfilter plugins, not with AUv3 versions of Fabfiler plugins
Is there any problem with APIs to add this feature or is it mainly a lot of work in rearranging GUI?
More than likely is that devs simply haven't figured out how to do it. AUv3 documentation from Apple is poor to nonexistent.
Yah, it is probably an under the hood thingy that requires a whole new set of buffering/memory management overhead streamy blah blah blah and is a lot of work. For now I find the built in limiter in NS2 and BM3 to be OK when I need to just cut notches out of bass etc. Sure, would be nice to wire up ProQ3 etc for l337 mix0ring but all things in due time.
Any update on topic? Best!
bump!
nothing new yet...
NS2 still has chance to be the first iOS Daw supporting it, don't miss it
I think the reason that no iOS DAW can do this is probably because no-one has figured out how to do it yet. It's probably not documented by Apple.
I talked with somebody from Fabfilter and he stated that auv3 api is clear in the way how to send more channel to the AU plugin. https://developer.apple.com/documentation/audiotoolbox/auaudiounitbus?fbclid=IwAR3YgfBpZMauvAl14vBLfiw3cT_uxe6tkqYqNJ1pe7_isvcUNEnm-yxPPHU https://developer.apple.com/documentation/audiotoolbox/auaudiounitbus/1387622-supportedchannellayouttags
That's good news. It's been implemented in AUM now too, so it's definitely possible.
Any news on AUM release date with this feature?
Best!
