Recording vocals? DJ scratch samples?
Hi All,
Just wondering if there’s a way to record vocals through my phone’s built-in mic.
Also, do you know of any DJ scratch samples (patches) for NS2?
This is the best app I’ve found for making music on my phone. But can I do vocals too?

Not easily at this point in time. Audio tracks are coming and then it should be possible. No ETA though.
OK. Thanks for letting me know.

You can record into Slate PAD or Obsidian sampler oscillator.. During recording you can enable also sequencer playback, so you can hear playing your track and record in sync with track .. what you then record, will be played from sampler - so you will trigger it by note in sequencer.

Some people don't like this workflow, and it's not always applicable (for long recordings like 1 minute and longer it is obviously not perfect, and it has other disadvantages like inability to do precise audio cuts directly in timeline), but for many use cases it just works ... I'm using it for recording HW synths ..
If you would use Slate, my suggestion would be to set PAD playback mode to "sustain" - then by length of note you choose in sequencer how long you want to play your recorded audio.
Disadvantage of this approach is obvious - it starts only from start of note, if you rewind playhead to middle of note audio will not start.
For this is workaround using Obsidian sample oscillator combined with sample offset automation. This concept is shown here :

Great tip. Thanks very much.
Any chance you can help me get some DJ scratch samples in an IAP?
@profJrockdetroit there's quite a good (IMO ) free download here https://www.antidoteaudio.com/freebies and NS2 makes it really quick to put these into your library.
